Game opens then immediately closes on Steam. So I just bought an Alienware M17 last month, and I recently got SMB 2 when it was half off. The game opens then immediately closes.   You can check the crash checklist, but don't worry about the Windows+R stuff since you're on a Mac.
  Is this problem new? The launcher is kind of a mess for everyone, but I think that's especially true for Mac users. What patch level is your game at? If you've only just installed everything and are trying to play, your launcher might be crashing because the patches are too big for the launcher to handle. What you need to do is a clean uninstall of your game, then reinstall the base game only. Then download this file: http://help.ea.com/en/article/the-sims-3-super-patcher/ It's a huge file, so it will take some time. When it's downloaded, double-click it to uncompress it, and then double-click it again to patch your game. After you do that, install the rest of your EPs and SPs in order. Then install your store stuff, if you have any. Don't install anything from the Exchange. After that, bypass your launcher in order to play.
